Websense Warns Consumers of Online California Fire Scams
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Websense, Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) today announced that its security research team has discovered suspicious online scams designed by criminals to steal money from those donating to the California fire effort. Websense also urged consumers to take steps to ensure that donations are reaching the intended recipients, and to notify officials of suspicious Web sites. "Unfortunately, as we saw with Katrina and several other recent emergencies, there are criminals who attempt to divert monies intended for the victims by creating bogus online donation Web sites and advertising them on high-traffic Web sites," said Dan Hubbard, vice president of security research, Websense. "These criminals are trying to take advantage of the amazing outpouring of support locally, state-wide and internationally.
Stanford gives large boost to aid

Canadians lift airport traffic, hotels
More people flew out of Buffalo Niagara International Airport and stayed at local hotels last year, two more indicators of the stronger Canadian dollar. Passenger traffic at Buffalo Niagara International Airport topped 5.3 million last year - an increase of 5.24 percent from 2006. The reason is a still-growing number of Canadians opting to fly from Buffalo rather than from airports in Hamilton or Toronto. Canadians account for more than one-third of the airport's passenger count. The presence of low-cost air carriers such as Southwest, Jet Blue and Air Tran are big attractions. The airport wasn't the only hospitality economic indicator that pointed to the region's growing tourism trade. Hotel occupancy in Erie and Niagara counties showed dramatic increases last year.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at rural development, the Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) proposes to set up a training institute for farmers and unemployed youth at Zira in Punjab. To be spread over an area of 10 acres and completed in 18 months the institute would impart training to the beneficiaries in various vocational activities with a view to increasing their family income, banks executive director Allen CA Pereira, told The Tribune here today. After training, the beneficiaries would get loans at subsidised rates for starting their ventures besides getting the benefits of the government's subsidy, Atul Gautam, general manager, informed. Pereira, who was here to inaugurate bank's onsite ATM in Sector 47 here, said the bank was also in the process of promoting solar energy projects in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand to help solve the power shortage problems in these states.

Man Held Responsible For Returned U-Haul Truck
The next morning at about 10 a.m. I get a phone call that I had never locked the truck, Long said. Long says the general manager of the U-Haul facility text-messaged his wife that the truck was overdue and told Long on the phone that the truck had been stolen and that is was Longs responsibility to file a police report, which he did, even though Bellingham police told KIRO 7 that it wasnt Longs job to report the theft because hes not the owner of the truck. I called the general manager of U-Haul and I said, Boy, Im glad I was able to help you out. Can you close my contract? And he said, No way. I asked why, and he said as far as he was concerned, the truck had never been checked in, said Long. I was flabbergasted and I said, Well, I have done everything you have asked me to do.
